Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
Members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. develops leaders, promotes brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for the African diasporic communities. An Alpha Phi Alpha attitude should not be "how much can I derive from the Fraternity" but "how much can I do for the Fraternity?"
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was founded on a mission of five basic tenets that have remained unchanged since the sorority’s inception. The mission is to 1) to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, 2) to promote unity and friendship, 3) to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, 4) to maintain a progressive interest in college life, 5) and to be of “Service to All Mankind.”
Black Student Union (BSU)
The Black Student Union provides networks, spaces, and opportunities in which students are able to improve their own community and the communities they are closely intertwined and associated with.
Black Faculty & Staff Engagement at UCSB (UCSB Black)
UCSB Black is a supportive and enjoyable space for Black identified and allied faculty and staff at UCSB to build community and create connections with one another. UCSB Black hopes to further develop and sustain an environment that allows faculty and staff to feel supported both professionally and personally by their peers.
The Black Graduate Student Association of UC Santa Barbara (BGSA)
BGSA serves as a support network for graduate students of African descent, provide resources that will enhance academic and career success of current students, and foster dedication and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of an increasingly diverse academic community. Open to all students.
Black Graduation (Black Grad)
The mission of this organization is to create, organize, and prepare a rewarding and joyous graduation ceremony for those wishing to participate in Black/African American Graduation Celebration. The ceremony will incorporate many aspects of African American cultural identity in ways that will celebrate the achievements of its participants at UCSB.
Black Leadership Council (BLC)
The BLC aims to bridge the gap between the various identities within the Black community. The space provided by the Black Leadership Council aims to provide student leaders with the support necessary to build a sustainable and cohesive community. Black student leaders are encouraged to collaborate with one another.
East African Student Association (EASA)
The East African Student Association was created to create a cultural space for students who identify as East African, but is an open space for all.
Eboni
To create a safe space for Black, womxn identifying and allied students, by reinstating the student run organization Akanke. There is an emphasis on social events and outreach to the broader Goleta black youth community to help foster a sense of community and connection. Eboni fosters a space for students to promote sisterhood. Open to all.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The organization is a sisterhood of predominantly Black, college-educated women. All are welcome.
National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
The mission of the National Society of Black Engineers is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers and other underrepresented STEM-based students who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. All are welcome to participate.
