As outlined in your Freshman Conditions of Admission, official transcripts are due by July 1 and test scores are due by July 15. It is important to request official transcripts and test scores in advance of these dates. Missing transcripts and/or test scores will result in your registration being blocked and ultimately the withdrawal of your admission offer. Check your status in your Applicant Portal under the "Transcripts" and "Test Scores" tabs.

Note: Students should only submit official exam score to the campus they plan to attend. UC campuses do not share official test scores with each other.

What is Required?

Required Transcripts: U.S. Students 

Transcripts are considered official when they are sent directly from the school. 

 

The transcript must show your entire high school coursework, from grades 9–12, including the exact date of your graduation. "Class of 2024" is not acceptable. 

If you took courses at any other U.S. school that don’t show up (including grades) on the transcript from your high school of graduation, then we’ll need transcripts from these schools as well.

To award college units, we require a transcript. If you took courses at a college or university, submit official transcripts from those institutions even if the work appears on your high school transcript. The sooner you send us these transcripts, the more likely university credit will be applied to your record when you enroll at UCSB. 

If you took any courses at institutions outside the U.S., submit official transcripts from those schools, even if this work appears on your high school transcript.

 

Required Transcripts: International Students

Transcripts are considered official when they are sent directly from the school. The following transcripts are required, if applicable to your education.

 

  • Final official secondary school records (transcripts) must be sent from your school or appropriate authority. These transcripts must verify the marks/grades you reported on your application and confirm secondary school completion or date of graduation.
  • In addition to your transcript, a true copy of your graduation certificate or diploma certified by your school is required.
  • If your school does not issue an English version of your transcript, you must submit a copy in its original language as well as a certified English translation.
  • If you attended a school system with external exams (IB, A-Levels, etc.), please be sure to have your school include your predicted grades along with your transcripts.
  • If your school year finishes after July 1, please submit your transcript as soon as it becomes available.
  • High school transcripts that post college course work are not accepted. To award college units, we require a college transcript. The sooner you send us these transcripts, the more likely university credit will be applied to your record when you enroll at UCSB.
  • GCSE/IGCSE/O-Levels, AS-Levels: You must request official Certifying Statements of Results from each examination board for all GCSE/IGCSE/O-Level and AS-Level exams. Certified true copies will not be accepted. Do not mail your original certificates, as they will not be returned. UCSB does not award university credit for GCSE/IGCSE/O-level or AS-Level exams.
  • A-Levels: If you have already received your results for your A-Levels, submit them by July 1. If your results are pending and will become available in August, submit them before the end of August. Certified copies provided by your secondary school are acceptable if they remain in a sealed school envelope, however, they cannot be utilized for university credit.
  • Options for Online Cambridge and Pearson Qualification Submission

You must request official IB exam results directly from the International Baccalaureate Organization. Exam results transcribed onto your high school transcript will not be considered official.

  • If you indicated on your UC Application that you have completed India Year X and/or India Year XII exams, you must request that your official exam results be sent to our office. Your results must be sent directly from the examining board or your school may send us certified copies provided they remain in your school’s official envelope and are sealed by your school.

If you have completed other external exams such as the French Baccalaureate, Abitur, New South Wales Higher Education Certificate, HKDSE, etc., you must request official exam results be sent to our office. Your results must be sent directly from the examining board, or your school may send us certified copies provided they remain in your school’s official envelope and are sealed by your school.


Please note: UCSB grants university credit for GCE, Singapore-Cambridge, and Hong Kong A-Level examinations with passing grades. To receive university credit for A-Level exams passed, you must submit a Certifying Statement of Results directly from the examining board. Credit will not be awarded from certified true copies of your A-Level results or transcripts. UC does not award credit for International A-level exams (IAL)

 

Test Scores

Test results must be sent directly from the testing agency to the Office of Admissions.

 

UCSB will not use SAT/ACT scores in our admission decisions or scholarship selection process. If you wish to submit scores for course placement, test scores must be submitted by July 1 from the testing agency. Please note that SAT/ACT scores will not be visible in the Applicant Portal.

If you passed any Advanced Placement (AP) or higher-level International Baccalaureate (IB) exams, you must have the testing agency send the official results to UCSB to receive credit. Provided we receive your official results, credit from these exams should appear on your record sometime during your first term at UCSB.

  • AP Credit: UCSB awards credit for AP exams with scores of 3 or higher.
  • IB Credit: UCSB awards college credit for most IB higher-level exams with scores of 5 or higher. (We don’t award college credit for standard-level exams.)

How to Send Transcripts to UCSB

We must receive your transcript directly from the transcript vendor. Make sure to select UC Santa Barbara Office of Admissions if required by vendor. We won’t accept transcripts sent through email as official. If your school doesn’t utilize these vendors, you’ll need to submit official paper copies of your documents.

Please note: Once the transcript is downloaded by our office, it needs to be verified, matched, and then posted onto your Applicant Portal. Please allow up to 3-4 weeks (during peak periods) for your Applicant Portal to be updated.

  • Electronically: Electronic transcripts are our preferred method of submission. We accept transcripts from the following vendors: Credentials Solutions/eSCRIP-SAFE, eTranscript CA, JST DoD Military Transcripts, Kiteworks, National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment Exchange1, Scribbles Software, SCOIR, SPEEDE.
  • By Mail: If your school is unable to send electronic transcripts via the approved vendors listed above, paper transcripts can be mailed to: Office of Admissions, UC Santa Barbara, 1210 Cheadle Hall, Santa Barbara, CA 93106-2014. Paper documents will only be considered official if they are sent in a sealed school envelope with a stamp or signature on the flap of the envelope.
